Summer Camp at Citta

Parents and Scouts who are going to Summer Camp at Citta,

Your son’s are seven days away from experiencing one of the greatest adventures in a young boy’s life, summer camp at the Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation in Brookville , NJ . I have some last minute information to share with you.

We will be departing the church at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 4th. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to this time.

We will require enough vehicles to transport approximately 30 scouts down to camp. Please contact me by e-mail at kev63tr@yahoo.com or my cell, 732-779-7320 732-779-7320 if you’re available to drive.

Our first year campers who are participating in the First Class

Frontier program have a few items they need to bring:

- A Backpack (the one they used for school this year will work fine) will be required to carry the items they will need for their overnight trip on Wednesday night. It will carry a water bottle and a personal mess kit (they need to bring this as the camp has a limited supply), change of clothes, their pillow and summer sleeping bag. The backpack does not need to be packed inside the footlocker.

-The program includes the swimming merit badge and either Basketry or Leatherwork. Their first kit is free; the second one will cost them depending on what they select. The Basketry kits are around $4 to $5. The leather kits start at the same price and go up to around $20

So other information about camp your boys should know about:

- The camp is offering instructional swimming for non- and beginner swimmers. If you son would like to participate, please contact me within the next few days so that arrangements can be made.

-If your son is taking cooking merit badge, he needs to bring a personal mess kit with him as the camp has a limited number of kits available.

-Ammunition is free if you are taking Rifle or Shotgun Merit Badge. Charges apply only during open shoot.

-Archery kits are included for Archery Merit Badge.

-Scouts taking Wilderness Survival Merit Badge need to bring Long Sleeved shirt and Pants for their overnighter.
